Labookellie tea estate is just a short drive from the city of Nuwara Eliya, in the mountains of the Central Province of Sri Lanka. The actual distance is just 3 miles (5 km) and the elevation is around 5,200 ft (1,600 m). It was established in 1870, so is considered one of the oldest tea estate in Sri Lanka and is currently owned by Damro company. It is well known for produced high quality, finest Ceylon teas, recognized by tea connoisseur around the world. It is surrounded by green hills covered with rows of tea bushes. The cool climate at that elevation and plenty of rain contribute to the unique character of teas produced there.
